Stuffed French Toast with Strawberry Balsamic Sauce

This stuffed french toast recipe will have you craving breakfast for dinner!  Great for the whole family and the perfect recipe for guests.  Super simple to make and super delicious to eat!

Stuffed French Toast with Strawberry Balsamic Sauce

Serves 4

  • Ingredients:
  • 8 slices french bread (thick slices) 
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 package cream cheese
  • pinch of cinnamon (x2)
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract (x2)
  • O&CO. Everyday Olive Oil

 

Instructions:

Combine strawberries with O&CO. Premium Balsamic Vinegar of Modena. Gently stir and set aside.

In a small bowl, combine cream cheese with cinnamon, vanilla and sugar and adjust to taste.

Spread about 2 tbsp. of cream cheese mixture (or enough to generously coat) on each of 4 slices of bread.  Top with the remaining 4 bread slices to make little sandwiches. Cut each sandwich in half.

In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk and the 2nd 1/2 tsp. vanilla and pinch of cinnamon.  Dip and soak each sandwich in the egg mixture for about 1-2 minutes, turning so both sides are coated.  

Lightly grease a non-stick pan with O&CO. Everyday Olive Oil and heat on medium.  Cook slowly, turning the toast over when the first side is golden brown.  Once cooked through, transfer french toast to a serving platter.  Serve with an extra dollap of the cheese mixture along with fresh strawberry sauce and 2 tbsp. of O&CO. Wild Strawberry & Balsamic Fruit Spread.  Serve immediately.

Other Topping Suggestions:

Mixed berries with Cherry or Fig Balsamic Sauce: combine 1 cup mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and strawberries) with 1 tbsp. O&CO. Cherry Balsamic Vinegar or O&CO. Fig Balsamic Vinegar.

Apples & Honey Balsamic Sauce:  Peel and thinly slice 2 large apples.  In a small pan, add 1 tbsp. O&CO. Everyday Olive Oil and saute the apples with a squeeze of lemon.  When the apples are tender, add 2 tbsp. O&CO. Orange Blossom Honey and 1 tbsp. O&CO. Aged Apple Balsamic Condiment.
